Ads Coming to iTunes and iPods
Advertising Age writes: “Apple — a brand that prides itself on the purity of the user experience — will soon put up billboards on its popular iTunes service, according to content partners who have been briefed on the plan. The introduction of visual ads could be the first step to allowing ads in other content areas or on iPods.”
The phrase “could be” at the end there is one of my big pet peeves with the media. They speculate and no one reads it as speculation.
Where did they get the idea that it “could be” the first step that would lead to ads on iPods? They made it up, and everyone says, yea, it could be. Then, iPod users turn around and say “not on my iPod” and there’s opposition to something that isn’t real.
Media people are great marketers, and any journalist that leads you to believe otherwise is pulling your leg.
. . . off the soapbox.
