Ads for Microsoft Office 2007 are futile
The latest wave of Microsoft Office 2007 ads are just lame.
Do I smile on my way to work because I get to use Gmail, WordPress, Dictionary.com, PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, iTunes, Bloglines, or any other technology? No. To suggest otherwise, especially with software as boring and commonplace as Microsoft Office, is comical at best.
The ads are unconvincing and go unnoticed (unless you’re critiquing their stupidity). One demerit for Microsoft’s ad agency.

The funny thing is, any CTO who is going to buy it for his company already knows about it and anybody who is on the edge is going to read the news/reviews about it.
1 – Spend more money developing a better product.
2 – Spend more on PR and less on ads.

To be honest, I like Office 2007 better than 2003, which I really liked more than XP, which was an improvement over 2000, etc.
That said, I’m no more productive now than I was 7 years ago. (Although Outlook 2007 is dead sexy.)
