There’s No “Secret Sauce” To SEO
Performancing explores the continuing idea that SEO has little to do with “tricks” and more to do with three things: copywriting, links, and online networking. From the article: “It’s become harder and harder over the last few years to game Google, and many SEO’s are now wondering if it’s time to give up trying to ‘manipulate’ G results and simply start feeding Google more of what it wants — the unfortunate result of which is a huge increase in workload, namely copywriting and Linkbaiting.”

Likewise. For my firm the SEO “trick” has always meant to give search engines what they want, namely relevant content. All the other tricks are secondary. Sure, it takes work, but that’s good since it thins out the competitors who are looking for an easy buck.
I think this has been the focus of most white hat SEO companies for a long time. My company’s big strategy has been improving content (and generating content) and link development for at least a year (a long time in Internet marketing). I haven’t seen anything improve a Google rating more than good content and a link strategy.
