Will Google Chrome OS change computers? Go read my Fox & Friends story to find out. —October 28, 2010
Good article, Blake. Here’s my 2 cents: Yes, Chrome OS will change computers, but not in the way people expect. It will be a lot more like how Chrome has changed browsers.
While it isn’t readily apparent, Chrome has a tremendous impact on browsers not through its adoption rate but through how it’s forced other browsers to adapt. To name a few, it ignited a huge speed war, and it’s changed the way stability is viewed. (Multiple processes for a browser tabs was left field when it came out. Now, much more normal.)
So, here’s three predictions on the way Chrome OS will change computers:
1) Separate kernel and user file systems.
2) Painless Reinstalls (both of the OS and applications)
3) Cloud based printing
