I lost respect for the museum curator who hung this
I’m tired of seeing art like this in museums. Last year at my local MOA, someone staged an entire room with nothing but lighting and black pebbles on the floor against an undecorated wall.
My take: Mediocre art like this doesn’t deserve to be in museums. It’s a clunky, cliche, and thoughtless attempt to challenge the definition of art.
We get it. Art can be anything. Pollack and Warhol said so decades ago. Many others before them did the same.
Now stop displaying gimmicky art, museum curators. You’re keeping wall space from more talented and original art.
Snob rant, over and out.

I think art such as this had a place in the early and mid 20th Century, but yeah, I agree with you about it now. I recently read an article about how we’re living in a “post-skill” world, in regard to art. And the person who said this was an artist! He said that artists now don’t really hone their craft, and I think that’s true.
I guess it depends on your definition of museums. I view them as showcases for the best art, local or otherwise. David seems to view them as laboratories, where anything goes. Again, this kind of art has a place, but it’s not in a public building that usually attempts to display “fine” art.
Sir, you OBVIOUSLY just dont get it. Did you not see those four irregular circles in the bottom right-hand corner? Have you any idea what those represent?
You sir need some culture and education before you slam a master piece like this.
More like “Grandpa Rant”!
Don’t forget, some people didn’t like the Mona Lisa, either. I say people should be able to give things a shot and some folks will or won’t like it. I disagree that people should “stop displaying gimmicky art”. Art can do many things, and starting a conversation like this is one of them.
