If a coporation were charged with designing a stop sign

From this video we learn two things:
- (Most) People are terrible designers
- (Most) Designers have no balls. Rather, they collectively pander to client requests instead of imposing their professional will on customers much like a doctor or mechanic would. This is a disservice to both the client and the designer — everybody loses.

Reminds me of some of our wonderful “User Interface Operability Focus Groups”. I realize that this video makes fun of it but the truth is that you can never have too much input! I mean, look at what we did with Vista! It rocks!
I couldn’t help feeling that the “committee” did a great job. The problem was that corporates often aren’t tasked with making a great product, rather they’re tasked with pleasing and meeting the expectations of those involved in the process. And that turns out a horrible product. Cough, cough (Windows ME and Vista both come to mind.)
